What will Harrisons provide?
As part of the training we will provide enough equipment including Portacount fit test machines and their associated items. The course will be delivered by our in-house trainers who are experienced and Fit2Fit accredited in this method of testing.
We will also provide one disposable mask each for the practical elements of the course along with examples of other disposable, reusable half and full face masks.
What will you need to provide?
We will need a training room with enough space to maintain social distancing.
Power, lighting, handwashing facilities and seating for delegates is necessary. A screen for presenting would be preferred, although we can bring a portable projector and screen, if necessary.
What will we learn about?
Our course is designed to provide delegates with an all-round knowledge of respiratory protection and face fit testing.
The morning session will include an in depth look at the different types of RPE available, how they work, different types of filtering media, UK legislation and a practical session covering donning and doffing.
The afternoon is mainly practical – where our trainer will take you through the equipment associated with this type of testing and demonstrate a fit test to Fit2Fit standards. You will then be required, in pairs to carry out a fit test on each other under instruction from our trainer. The day is completed with a multi choice test and discussion around the topic.
Do I need to be clean shaven to attend?
The training itself is a practise exercise therefore facial hair can be worn. Going forward, should anyone require to be certified as face fit tested, the delegate being tested MUST be clean shaven.
Will I receive a certificate upon completion?
A certificate will be emailed after the event (usually within 48 hours), it will expire 2 years from the date of issue.
Is the course Fit2Fit approved?
Yes.
We are proud to be one of a small number of companies in the UK to hold Fit2Fit approval for this course. Fit2Fit are the only body in the UK who will rubber stamp competency in fit testing. The Fit2Fit standard is the gold standard and should provide you with the confidence that we are at the top of our game in this field.
What masks can be tested using the quantitative method?
All types of tight fitting respiratory protection can be fit tested using this method. For FFP1 and FFP2 type masks you will need a PortaCount machine with N95 technology. Further information in relation to this will be explained as part of the training.
Where can I buy/hire the equipment following my training?
We work closely with TSI and can provide you with prices for the purchase of the machine and associated items. We also have a fleet of new machines available to hire. Please visit our online shop for more information and availability.
