What will Harrison’s provide?
As part of the training, we will supply the testing equipment required, as well as one disposable mask and a training booklet for each delegate to keep. Please note, lunch or refreshments will not be included by ourselves.
What will you need to provide?
We will need a training room with enough space to maintain social distancing.
Power, lighting, handwashing facilities and seating for delegates is necessary. A screen for presenting would be preferred, although we can bring a portable projector and screen, if necessary.
How long will the course last for?
Our course is jam packed full of approved content and information so we allow a full day (9am – 4pm) for the training.
Occasionally the course can overrun and sometimes it will finish sooner - this usually depends on delegate numbers and their previous background knowledge (if any), of respiratory protection.
What will we learn about?
Our course is designed to provide delegates with an all-round knowledge of respiratory protection and qualitative face fit testing. The morning session will include an in depth look at the different types of RPE available, how they work, different types of filtering media, UK legislation and a practical session covering donning and doffing.
The afternoon is mainly practical – where our trainer will take you through the components of a qualitative testing kit and demonstrate a fit test to Fit2Fit standards. You will then be required, in pairs to carry out a fit test on each other under instruction from our trainer. The day is completed with a multi choice test and discussion around the test paper.
Is the course Fit2Fit approved?
Yes.
We are proud to hold Fit2Fit approval for this course as Fit2Fit are the only body in the UK who will rubber stamp competency in fit testing. The Fit2Fit standard is the gold standard and should provide you with the confidence that we are at the top of our game in this field.
Who should attend the course?
Information Document INDG 479 states that RPE Fit Testing should only be conducted by a trained and competent person. To be competent, the fit test operator should have received the appropriate level of instruction and training and should be adequately informed. We welcome anyone from any industry background to take part, whether you have no previous knowledge of respiratory or if you currently work within this sector. It’s helpful when you book, to let us know what background knowledge the delegates have and our course Trainers can use this information when preparing their content delivery.
Will I receive a certificate upon completion?
A certificate will be emailed after the event (usually within 48 hours), it will expire 2 years from the date of issue.
Do I need to be clean shaven to attend?
The training itself is a practise exercise therefore facial hair can be worn.
Going forward, should anyone require to be certified as face fit tested, the delegate being tested MUST be clean shaven.
Can we use our own masks for the training?
Yes.
